Czech Republic




John Thomas from White Plains, New York, visited Prague in 2006. This photograph captures the Old Town Square at dusk, and it is easy to see why Thomas described the city as being “one of the most architecturally beautiful places in the world.”

Kyle Turley took this photo of the Sydney Opera House from his hotel room in the morning. Turley was surprised by the contrasts found across the country, from the “truly International” city of Sydney, to the “vast nothingness (and complete quietl)” of Uluru in the outback.

He visited there with friends, and took this photo of the Central Valley.

Thailand



Corey Fleeman, 25, Bedford, Texas, snapped this image of a Makha Bucha Day celebration at Wat Suthat, Bangkok. The Buddhist holiday is usually celebrated at the end of February or early March in Thailand. The holiday commemorates a day when 1,250 disciples spontaneously came to pay homage tp Buddha.

Jerusalem



James Cheatham took this picture of the Old City of Jerusalem. Cheatham writes that the attraction of the Holy Land “lies in its ability to combine the past, present and future into any vacation plan at an affordable price. Whether it’s a day at the beach on the Mediterranean, visiting ancient ruins, or just meeting the locals, you are sure to go home with more than you came with.. namely a change of heart.”

Ireland



While walking the grounds at the Hill of Tara, Anne-Marie Moriarty came across a lone tombstone of a Celtic cross on the hill. “The stone was so weathered I could not make out any of the writing, so [1] do not know how long it has been there. I cannot imagine too many modern things that will stand the test of time like these areas.”

Italy



Jeff Shafer visited the Roman Forum while on a 14-week backpacking trip through Europe.

New York




Lulis Leal of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, took this picture while strolling through Central Park earlier this month. “the weather was absolutely perfect,” she wrote. “smiling faces and the happy sounds of laughter and children playing were all around.”

Phillipines



A carabao, or water buffalo, trudges along the beach of Purto Sabang in Palawan. This tourist village is the gateway to the famous Subterranean River that the country had hoped would be included in the New Seven Wonders of the World. Ted Stedman said. It didn’t make it, but that doesn’t stop people from flocking here.

“Despite vesting in early October, the fall foliage was in full bloom and brilliantly colored leaves were everywhere. While I imagine Stockholm is beautiful in the summer, the autumn is absolutely breathtaking,” Sara Elizabeth Miller writes.

Martha’s Vineyard



During a trip to Marthas Vineyard in October, Lauren Sample visited the Gay Head Lighthouse in Aquinnah. A scenic and beautiful setting for a classic lighthouse. Visiting in autumn is the best time to avoid the crowds and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

French Riviera



This fountain in the Place Massena separate old Nice with its blue umbrellas and sunbathers from the city rush of the new Nice. The French Riviera in Nice is the definition of charming, Chris Fukunage wrote.

Rocky Mountains




The sun sets over Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Canada, Mauricio Drelichman has visited the mountain range twice and believes the Canadian Rockies are one of the most wonderful places on Earth.

Peru



Residents of the floating islands of Lake Titcaca say goodbye to Vikas Bapat. The islands are made of reeds, Bapat said.
